What Are The Core Beliefs Of

Austin's #1 Golf Pain Expert Paul Hendricks?

Golf pain CAN be addressed naturally without resorting to painkillers, injections, or surgery – contrary to common misconceptions.

After treating thousands of golfers, there are a few core beliefs I have come to prioritize in my practice:

BELIEF #1 – TREATING GOLFERS AS INDIVIDUALS
After working with thousands of golfers for more than three decades, the most important belief I hold is treating each individual as unique. This means taking the time to get to know you and your personal story. Everyone has different circumstances that can impact their game, whether it’s family issues or past injuries. By understanding these factors, I can create a more personalized and effective approach to improving your golf performance.
BELIEF #2 – MATCHING SWING STYLE TO PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES
Another key principle is that golfers should match their swing style to their physical abilities. I learned long ago that while there are countless ways to swing a golf club, each player has only one efficient swing. This optimal swing is based on what the golfer is physically capable of doing. People often compare themselves to professionals they see on TV, but the reality is that a pro’s strength and flexibility may be very different from their own. Understanding your physical limits is crucial for achieving success on the course.
BELIEF #3 – ASSESSS, DONT GUESS
I strongly believe that if you’re not assessing a golfer’s capabilities, you’re merely guessing at what they need. At the Golf Performance Academy, we take each player through a comprehensive physical screening. This assessment looks at swing biomechanics, general swing mechanics, physical fitness, and movement quality. For example, you might be able to lift your arm, but the quality of that movement is what really matters. We also evaluate general health and review any injury history, like old car accidents, that might still affect performance. A thorough assessment allows us to provide the best, most efficient swing for each golfer.
BELIEF #4 – IDENTIFYING THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM
A fourth essential belief of mine is determining whether the swing is affecting the body or if the body is affecting the swing. Once we understand this, we can tailor the approach to help golfers play better, more frequently, and with less pain. Helping golfers achieve this balance is the ultimate goal.
